As They Fake, We Educate helps teachers and students recognise manipulated and AI-generated media, question sources, identify bias, evaluate information reliability and communicate responsibly in digital environments.
SkillX strengthens job-ready vocational competences of VET teachers and students through simulation-based and AI-supported learning that reflects real work processes in business services, tourism and hospitality, catering, creative digital services and green-transition related occupations.
WE-EDU is motivated by evidence from school practice and previous Erasmus+ implementation, including Sustainable Solutions. Classroom observations showed that students often accepted manipulated and AI-generated media as reliable, had limited awareness of how such content is produced, and struggled to question sources, purpose and intent. Teachers also reported a lack of structured guidance and practical tools for addressing these challenges in everyday teaching.
The project creates a coherent European framework that helps teachers and students understand how information is shaped, manipulated and distributed through multimodal and AI-driven media. It supports the Digital Education Action Plan 2021–2027 by strengthening digital readiness, resilience, critical thinking, digital comprehension and responsible decision-making.
At least 20 teachers per partner school, with a minimum of 120 teachers, will complete structured training in critical media, multimodal and basic AI literacy. At least 80% should be able to explain manipulation in age-appropriate language, guide step-by-step media analysis and assess competences through shared indicators.
At least 30 students per partner school, with a minimum of 180 direct participants, will learn to distinguish factual information from manipulated or AI-generated content and identify bias and persuasive techniques in text, images and video.
At least 70% of participating students will create media outputs that clearly state purpose and intent and demonstrate awareness of audience impact.
The project will develop reusable and flexible learning resources so critical media and AI literacy can reach teachers and students outside the partnership.
