Course Description
Schools play a vital role in supporting the successful integration of immigrant and refugee students into their new educational, social, and cultural environments. Effective integration goes beyond academic achievement and includes fostering belonging, participation, well-being, language development, intercultural understanding, and positive relationships within the school community.
This course is designed for teachers, school leaders, support staff, and educational professionals who work with immigrant and refugee students and wish to strengthen their capacity to create inclusive, welcoming, and supportive learning environments. Participants will explore the educational, social, emotional, linguistic, and cultural challenges that immigrant students may face and develop practical strategies to support their adaptation and success.
Through collaborative activities, case studies, simulations, and the exchange of international experiences, participants will learn how to promote inclusion, support language acquisition, strengthen family engagement, address discrimination, and create school environments where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
Methodology
The course follows a highly interactive and practice-oriented methodology that combines educational theory with real-life application. Participants will engage in collaborative workshops, case study analysis, intercultural simulations, role-playing activities, peer-learning sessions, reflective practice, problem-solving exercises, and action-planning workshops. The methodology promotes active participation, critical reflection, intercultural dialogue, and the direct transfer of acquired knowledge into participants’ professional practice.
