Course Description
Assessment is one of the most powerful tools teachers use to support learning, monitor progress, and improve student achievement. Effective assessment goes beyond grading; it provides valuable information that helps teachers make informed instructional decisions while empowering students to take ownership of their learning.
This course is designed for teachers who wish to strengthen their assessment literacy and develop practical skills for designing meaningful, reliable, and student-centred assessment practices. Participants will explore contemporary approaches to assessment, including assessment for learning, assessment as learning, and assessment of learning. They will examine principles of fairness, validity, reliability, transparency, and inclusivity while developing assessment tools that can be directly applied in their classrooms.
Through practical workshops, collaborative design activities, case studies, and peer feedback sessions, participants will gain the confidence to create assessment systems that support both teaching effectiveness and student success.
Methodology
The course combines assessment design workshops, collaborative learning, case study analysis, reflective practice, peer review activities, classroom simulations, inquiry-based learning, practical assessment development tasks, and the examination of international good practices. Participants will continuously develop and refine classroom assessment tools throughout the course.
