Project-Based Learning and Problem-Based Learning
A practical Erasmus+ course for teachers who want to transform classrooms through authentic projects, real-world problems and student-centred learning.

Course Description
Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) are among the most effective student-centred methodologies for developing critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. By connecting classroom learning with authentic challenges and real-world situations, these approaches increase student engagement, motivation, and ownership of learning while preparing learners for future academic, professional, and social contexts.
This course is designed for teachers and educational professionals who wish to transform their teaching practices through meaningful, inquiry-driven, and student-centred learning experiences. Participants will explore the principles, differences, and practical applications of Project-Based Learning and Problem-Based Learning while developing the skills needed to design, facilitate, assess, and implement successful projects and problem-solving activities across different subjects and educational levels.
Through practical workshops, collaborative projects, classroom simulations, and hands-on activities, participants will gain the confidence and tools necessary to create active learning environments that foster innovation, independence, teamwork, and real-world learning.
Methodology
The course follows an active, experiential, and inquiry-based learning approach where participants learn through authentic projects and problem-solving experiences. Methodologies include Project-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, cooperative learning, inquiry-based learning, design thinking, gamification, collaborative workshops, reflective practice, peer-learning activities, and technology-enhanced learning. Participants will work individually and collaboratively to design, test, evaluate, and refine learning projects applicable to their educational contexts.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the principles and differences between Project-Based Learning and Problem-Based Learning.
- Design authentic learning experiences based on real-world challenges.
- Develop inquiry-driven projects that promote student engagement and ownership.
- Apply problem-solving frameworks within classroom practice.
- Foster critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills.
